Directions
The Dermarollex® is easy to use:
- Use EMLA local anaesthetic cream from your pharmacy to provide pain relief
- Do not force the roller into the skin. Simply use mild pressure.
- After the treatment, wash the Dermarollex® in sterilising fluid.
- Apply the relevant PharmaClinix® cream to the skin, until absorbed.
- Roll the head onto the skin, firmly, but slowly, to make sure that the needles penetrate the surface layer.
- Roll at the same intensity four times each vertically, horizontally & diagonally.
- Re-apply the cream after rolling the skin to get maximum benefit.
- Use once a week, preferably before bed-time, gradually increasing to five times a week over 4 weeks.
Sterilizing your Dermarollex® after the treatment:
- Wash the Dermarollex® under running hot water.
- Sterilize the Dermarollex®, with household disinfectant or sterilising liquid.
- Immerse in half a glass of the liquid for 15 minutes.
- Shake off the excess fluid
- Allow to dry completely, before putting into its plastic case.
Caution
- Use one roller per person.
- Do NOT use in active acne, raised scars, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, severe solar keratosis and raised moles or warts.
- Do not apply on eyelids.
- For safety & hygienic purposes; Store in the supplied plastic box.
- Needle size of more than 0.2mm should be used under medical supervision only.

How it works
How does the Dermarollex® Work?
- As you roll the skin roller over your skin, it creates pin point punctures into the dermis. (Your pores are pushed open temporarily).
- These tiny channels encourage the active ingredients to penetrate to where they need to work.
- These tiny holes remain open for 24-48 hours, during which further applications of the PharmaClinix® cream can be made.
- These micro-punctures are perceived by the body as damage, which stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin.
- By persistently triggering the healing process, you encourage your body to continue healing.
- This process of skin remodelling can go on for months after each Dermarollex® treatment, but noticeable results can be seen within a week!
- Your skin naturally renews itself every 40 days, so with a little stimulation changes can be dramatic and fast.
Post Treatment
It is very important that you follow the advice of your practitioner / Doctor carefully after any treatment to help make the procedure as successful as possible and to reduce the risk of complications.
Post – treatment advice to Patient:
- Use lukewarm water to cleanse your face for the first 48 hours following treatment and dry the area gently without rubbing.
- Ensure that hands are always clean when touching the area treated, to avoid infections.
- Do NOT apply conventional make-up products to the skin for the first 12 hours following treatment with 0.2-0.25 mm needles. With needles above that size avoid make up for at least 5 days.
- Apply the prescribed skincare products given to you by your practitioner according to the regime specifically designed for you.
- Apply TOTAL Sunblock cream immediately after treatment (before leaving the clinic and when going outside following treatment). Continue using sunblock for one week.
Post-treatment advice to Doctor
Care of the skin after Micro-Needling:
- The skin appears bruised, but bleeding is minimal and there is only a small ooze of serum that soon stops.
You can clean the skin with saline swabs. - The patient is encouraged to use topical Skin Vitamix® cream to promote better healing and greater production of collagen.
- At home, shower with tepid water because the skin will be more sensitive to heat.
- While the water is running over the face or body, the patient should gently massage the treated skin until all serum, blood, or oil is removed. It is important to keep the treated skin clean.
- The skin will feel sensitive, with bruising & swelling especially with needles over 0.5mm long.
Note: If the patient has not cleaned the skin thoroughly, a fine scab may form on the surface.
The formation of scabs should be discouraged because they may cause obstruction and the development of tiny pustules, in which case, pricking and draining should treat them.
When the pustules are allowed to dry on the skin, they will form thin scabs that effectively prevent the penetration of the vitamins necessary for a successful treatment.
- The patient should avoid direct sun exposure for at least 10 days if possible and use a broad-brimmed hat or scarf to protect the facial skin.
- Patients may get shocked when they look in the mirror, but this procedure is a far less shocking & safer than laser resurfacing, as no thermal injury has been subjected.
- The treatment can be repeated after six weeks.
PREDICTED APPEARANCE AFTER MICRO-NEEDLING
DEPENDS ON SIZE OF NEELDES USED.
0.2mm-0.25mm Micro-needles:
The patient recovers within one hour and can return to work.
The fair-skinned patients will have the appearance of a superficial sun-burn & can choose not to return to work until the following day.
0.5mm Micro-needles:
The patient will have superficial redness & the bleeding will have subsided within half an hour.
Half a day recovery is recommended.
1.0mm Micro-needles:
The patient dermarolled with 1mm needles will heal completely in 2 days. It is recommended to have a shower on return home & clean the treated area to remove any crusted serum.
1.00-3.00mm Micro-needles:
The patient will feel:
- Immediately after procedure: bleeding and bruising
- Five to 20 minutes after procedure: bleeding stops quickly; serum oozes from the skin
- Day 1: bruised and dark purple-red appearance in light skin; less colour change in ethnic skin .Puffy facial appearance; some bruising, especially close to eyes and in thin- skinned areas
- Day 2: red-purple hue on light skin like a moderate sun burn; bruising, if any, starts to lighten; swelling may be worse on the second day in many people, and most people are not ready to be seen in public at this stage
- Day 3: appearance still pink, with bruising getting steadily lighter; swelling reduced; some people ready to appear in public but could be conspicuous
- Day 4 to 6: minimal swelling; bruising will take a few days to disappear; can use makeup; patient can appear in public with confidence with the use of makeup
- Day 7: in most patients, very few signs are visible of the procedure. Most patients should be advised to stay off work for between 5 and10 days if they deal with people at work and are sensitive about their own appearance

- Skin disorders e.g irritated skin, infected skin, fungal skin infections, active acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, severe solar keratosis, raised moles and/or warts, and/or any open wounds or sores.
- Patients who are on anti-coagulants e.g. Aspirin, Warfarin, Heparin etc.
- Patients on steroids should be warned that healing is slower.
- Patients with blood disorders e.g haemophilia, Von-Willibrands disease, Christmas disease or Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP).
- Diabetics
NOTE:
Ideally the skin should be treated with Skin Vitamix® in order to load the skin with vitamins to promote rapid healing.

Can Dermarollex® remove acne scars / surgery scars?
Yes! Scar Repairex® has shown dramatic results when used with Dermarollex®.
The micro-needle size can vary according to the depth & type of scar. Ideal for: Sunken Acne Scars, Atrophic Maculae, Depressed Fibrotic scars, Follicular Macular Atrophy, Ice-pick scars, Pitting of the skin, Large pores, Chicken pox scars, Burn scars, Surgical scars, etc.However be mindful that longer needles are ALWAYS needed for scar tissue as needles need to cut through old,tight fibres and release them in order for healthy ,soft ,normal collagen replaces them.However uperficial scars respond well to regular needling with 0.2-0.25mm needles.

Can Dermarollex® remove stretch marks?
Yes, stretch marks can be almost eradicated with Stretchex® when used with Dermarollex®.
- Stretch marks occur when the skin is stretched especially during pregnancy, adolescent growth spurts, weight loss or gain or due to rapid muscle growth.
- The outer layer of skin isn’t affected, but the dermis becomes thinner and develops tiny tears. The blood vessels that lies under the skin show through, giving the marks a reddish colour. Later, when the blood vessels contract, the purplish colour fades to silvery white.
- Dermarollex® treats stretch marks as it stimulates the production of new Blood vessels, collagen fibres and elastin in the skin usually with needles longer than 0.5mm in depth.
